30.01.16 : CLASS XII FAREWELL CEREMONY

The spirit of cohesion and immortality of human relationships, as exemplified by Winnie the Pooh continues to inspire posterity and adds meaning to the very idea of change and mobility. Farewell ceremonies expose one to the manifold opportunities available outside the ambit of one’s limited experience and help one to outgrow amomentaryweakness and teach an indispensable life lesson.
With an aim to keep the spirit alive in the hearts of students and teach them the importance of traditions and legacy, Queen’s Valley School organised the annual farewell ceremony for the outgoing batch of class XII on January 30th, 2016. Keeping in tune with the spirit of the Hawan ceremony organized the previous day, the ceremony began in great excitement and merriment as class XII students dressed up to their glamorous best and were given agrand welcome at the red carpet. With a shower of flowers and sweet welcoming words from class XI students, they were ushered in by volunteers asking them variety of questions pertaining to their feelings and excitement for the day’s events.
The formal proceedings began withthe cultural programmes by the students of class XI. The musical skit titled My School Lifewas the highlight of the day wherein the crests and troughs in the lives of the students were depicted on stage in a humorous manner. As the Principal gave mementoes, class photographs, school magazines and titles to the class XII students, she congratulated them for their achievements and offered her blessings for a bright future.
As the day’s events drew to a close, the students felt desperate to hold on to the last few precious moments of togetherness. As they felt empowered to face the world with dignity and confidence, they left their views on the school Graffiti Wall and immortalized the moment.The efforts of class XI were appreciated by all as they succeeded in making the day a memorable one for their seniors.
29.01.16 : CLASS IX PRINTMART-MATHEMATICAL ART
Mathematics and art are related in a variety of ways. Mathematics has itself been described as an art motivated by beauty. Artists have used mathematics since the fifth century BC. Popular claims have been made for the use of golden ratio in art and architecture.
Queens of class IX participated with full vigor in ‘Printmart- Mathematical art’ an attempt to portray mathematical art on handkerchiefs on 29 January 2016.Beautiful and innovative mathematical designs were created by the students on handkerchiefs. The designs constructed by the queens reflect their analytical and creative bent of mind.
Despite the initial obstacles faced by the students in painting mathematical designs on handkerchief, their participation in huge numbers with great enthusiasm is appreciable.

28.01.16 : CLASS VI-C SAVE THE GIRL CHILD
Welcome to the 21st century, to the Modern India with all its technological advancements from world class airports, metro-rails, etc. to mobile phones, internet, etc. India has come a long way since its independence 60 years ago. Today we have the best doctors, engineers, architects and teachers.
But wait, is India really a modern country? Is it really a 21st century country? Caste-system is still prevalent here. Half of our population lives in poverty and is uneducated. There are only 933 girls left per 1000 boys. Parents don’t want to raise a girl child fearing that they will not be able to save enough money for her dowry and education. Female infanticide is at an all-time high. We are struggling to provide safety to our girls.
On 28th January 2016, class VI- C presented a special assembly on the topic ‘Save Girl Child’. The students showcased how women are important for the survival of mankind-without a girl child, boy child can never take birth in this world. Then why is their violence against women and the girl child. Why do they want to kill the girl child before taking birth in her mother’s womb. They answered all the above questions and highlighted the importance of saving the girl child. Students also spread a social message of eradicating female feticide from society.
The students began the day by reciting the school prayer which was followed by the English, Hindi, Sanskrit and French thoughts. English news, GK facts and jokes also comprised a part of the assembly. Thereafter, the students dramatized a short skit on the day’s theme wherein they enacted various roles and laid stress on howgirls are truly the pillars of the society. A small girl child can be a good daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother and other good relations in the future.They also enacted the hollowness of the world where there are no women through a dance performance on the popular song ‘O re chiraya, nanni si chidiya’. The Queens laid special stress on how everyone can help removing this evil from our society. At the climax of the skit, the students highlighted the message that if we want to make our future bright, we first have to save our daughters. We have to give equal treatment to both son and daughter to make our lives fruitful.They gave another excellent dance performance on the song ‘Mujhe kya bechega rupaiya”- which truly captured the spirit of this message. Queens ended their assembly with dance performance on the song ‘Ye betiyon to maaon ki raaniyan hain”and spread the message that in our country where women are worshipped in the form of various Goddesses, we have to stand up and strive to change the society.It was a commendable performance by the young queens and an enriching experience for the audience. The special assembly ended with the National Anthem.
28.01.16 : CLASS V Report Live Sudoku
QVS celebrated Mathematics Week. As a part of it, Live Sudoku competition was organized for class V.
Sudoku is a kind of mathematical puzzle which helps the learner to use skills like logical reasoning and analysis. It involves dealing with variable inputs at one time. It also involves the method of forming hypothesis to verify the solution.
On 9th Dec the prelim round for Sudoku Storey was conducted for class V. In the Prelim round students were given a 9 × 9 Sudoku to solve. All the students participated with zeal and enthusiasm.
Students selected in the Prelim round went to the final round which was conducted on 28th Jan. Selected students were given a higher level Sudoku to solve. Student who solved the Sudoku correctly in the least possible time were selected as the winners.
It was enjoyable learning experience for all!

27.01.16 : Mathematics - Quiz

Mathematics helps us to develop all our intellectual powers like power of imagination, memorization, observation, invention, concentration, originality, creativity, logical thinking and systematized reasoning.
A Mathematics Quiz will enhance the mathematical concepts by practicing in the most natural ways. It is an open challenge to the faculties of the mind and a systematic and organized exercise for one’s mental health.
In order to enable students to effectively utilize their fun time.So, the month January 2016 was celebrated as Mathematical month in Queen’s Valley School. Mathionare - Maths Quiz for class III and IV, an Inter Class Mathematics Quiz was organized.
The Preliminary Round was held wherein the students were asked the questions based on logical reasoning and basic mathematical concepts.
The final competition was contested among six teams consisting of 2 students each from Class III and IV. The quiz consisted of multiple rounds some of which were as follows:
The students participated in the activity with great interest and enthusiasm. It was an amazing experience for the students, the audience and the teachers.

27.01.16 : RENDEZVOUS WITH NUMBERS – MATHEMATICAL CROSSWORD
“Success is based on learning and incredible curiosity.”
In an attempt to discourage rote learning and to develop logical reasoning in the minds of our queens, Mathematical week was organized in Queen’s Valley School in the month of January 2016.
During the Mathematical week, “Rendezvous with numbers- A mathematical crossword” was organized on 27th January 2016 to boost the brain power of the queens of the class X. The competition was conducted at 2 levels- Preliminary Round and Final Round. Students selected in preliminary round went for the final round.
The Preliminary test consisted of a crossword based on logical reasoning and syllabus of the respective class. The final competition was contested through series of crosswords based on algebra, calculation skills and a number challenge.

This activity helped the students to enhance their logical and critical thinking and decision making skills. It involved mind sensory mechanics, perception and cognition.

25.01.16 : CLASS VII Bingo- Mathematical Tambola Report

The students of QVS showcased their mathematical ability through various competitions. To hone the thinking skills of students ‘Bingo-Mathematical Tambola’ was held for the students of Class VII. The girls took keen interest and participated enthusiastically in the competition.
The Prelim round was held on 14th December and the Final round was held in 25th January. In the Final Round , the selected students were given a 5x5 Bingo sheet each with numbers written in them. A set of questions were given to all. The students who gave the maximum number of correct answers in the stipulated time span were considered the winners.
It was an enjoyable learning experience for all!

22.01.16 : Republic Day Celebration with Annual Sports Meet

Annual Sports Day is an important event in the calendar of every school. Apart from commemorating victories, sports meets also aim at imparting lessons on sportsman spirit and camaraderie to children.
Queen’s Valley School organized the Annual Sports Meet 2015-16 and Republic Day Celebrations on 22nd January 2016 at the school grounds. Its objective was to develop in the students a sporting spirit, a venue to display their physical prowess and gain hands on experience of organising a sports day. A plethora of sports events took place in which the contestants involved themselves in the true spirit of sportsmanship truly justifying the theme : India- Unleashing the Power Within.
The glittering opening ceremonycommenced with the arrival of the Chief Guests escorted by the smartly attired Guard of Honour consisting of the NCC wing of the school.Undoubtedly, the most solemn part of the ceremony was the ‘Relay of the Torch’ by the school’s noteworthy sportspersons.The event was followed by the hoisting of the flag by our esteemed Chairman, ShriS.K.Sachdeva who declared the sports meet open.
The students displayed a wide array of colourful events such as Yoga, Aerobics, Drill, Skating and Basketball and the Grand Final‘We are the Queens Of QVS’. Interspersed among these were a mesmerizing and colourful drill by the students of class VIII, an extremely synchronized aerobics display and a heart-stopping gymnastics display.Yoga and formation of pyramids was done by class VI and VII students. Drill of dumb bells was done by class VIII studentswho were brimming with enthusiasm and sportsmanship.They mesmerised the audience with their energetic performances. Achievers of the session 2014-15 were also felicitated during the Prize Distribution.
The school playground was filled with great zeal and excitement.
